BENJAMIN
Benjamin is Jacob's last child. Rachel died in childbirth, but not before naming him Ben-Oni - the son of my sorrow.
Despite Jacob's immense sadness at Rachel's death, he did not accept that name and calls him Benjamin, the son of his right hand, his strength!
Genesis 35:18 - Rachel was about to die, but with her last breath she named the baby Ben-oni (which means “son of my sorrow”).
The baby’s father, however, called him Benjamin (which means “son of my right hand”).
The name is as an expression of hope rather than fear.
The words “right hand” has significant meaning in the bible. The right hand is the hand of authority, strength and power.
Exodus 15:6 - “Your right hand, O LORD, is glorious in power. Your right hand, O LORD, smashes the enemy.
David describes the right-hand authority.
Psalm 110:1 - The LORD said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."
Finally, we understand perfectly the picture at the Gospel.
Luke 22:69 - But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.
Confirming the all power was given to Yeshua in Heaven, and on earth.
When we are sons of the right hand, we receive power and authority!
